The September 11 Celebration of Life event will take place next to the Riverwalk 9/11 Monument on the outside patio of the former Matchbox restaurant, next to the Wharf in downtown Fort Lauderdale, an important site dedicated to remembrance and reflection. The monument features a rail segment from the PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson) rapid transit station that was located at the World Trade Center. After picking up the last passengers on September 11, 2001, at 9:10 a.m., the station was buried under the rubble of the collapsed towers. The rail is displayed in an uplifted position supported by granite pillars, symbolizing the solid bedrock of Manhattan that supports its massive buildings.

Riverwalk 9/11 Memorial ~ Celebration of Life Event

~ A Reflection on Remembrance and Resilience in Ft. Lauderdale

As we approach the solemn anniversary of September 11, it is more important than ever to reflect on the significance of this day. For many, it represents a time of heart-wrenching loss and profound bravery. The events of September 11, 2001, forever altered the fabric of our nation, and as we gather this year in Fort Lauderdale, we are reminded of the heroism displayed by First Responders and the innocent lives lost. To honor our First Responders, Thank You First Responder invites you to join us for a very special Celebration of Life Event on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 6:30 – 8pm.

The Riverwalk 9/11 Monument: A Symbol of Unity and Memory

Located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, the Riverwalk 911 Monument stands as a poignant reminder of the resilience and unity that emerged from the tragedy. This sacred site invites us to pause, remember, and honor those who sacrificed everything. The monument serves not only as a memorial but also as a beacon of hope, symbolizing our collective strength and commitment to never forget.

Six Moments of Silence: Reflect and Remember

This year, as part of our “Celebration of Life” ceremony, we will share the opportunity of six different moments of silence to all who wish to participate. These moments are dedicated to the memory of the nearly 3,000 victims, including the Brave First Responders who answered the call without hesitation. Each moment offers an opportunity for quiet contemplation, allowing us to connect with the profound impact of their sacrifice and the enduring spirit they left behind.
